Epileptic Colony, Chalfont St Peter
« on: Sunday 22 January 17 07:13 GMT (UK) »
Hello, can anyone help please.
My Great Uncle was admitted to the Colony in 1916, he died there in 1926 at the age of 28 from epileptic convulsions.
Does anyone know if there are any existing archives covering these years, if so, where they are, and is it possible to access them
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Hi hiyamarra,
I would contact The Buckinghamshire Family History Society to see if they are aware of any records. The National Archives have some records but not for the period you are interested in and not digitised.

Caesar, Dicker, Lamden, West - Hampshire
Hicks, Martin, Masters - Kent, Middlesex
Hancox/Hancock/Hancocke - Warwickshire
Gardner - Devon
Traylen - Essex & Jersey

Morning Both
I've just found out that my mum's uncle existed, so this is my first line of enquiry
He spent some time in the Union Workhouse York, before being sent to the Colony
Peter
I'll try to contact the BFHS

Thanks for the link, i'll give that a try too

You could also contact the Centre for Buckinghamshire Studies(CBS) Archives. They may have records.
