I should have added that I have telephoned the chapel and left numerous messages without any joy.

If you look on Google Earth for Chapelizod, you can see that there's no graveyard there.

Your relatives are probably buried in one of the bigger cemeteries - Glasnevin Cemetery, or maybe Goldenbridge.

Thank you for your Reply.
I have tried every cemetery that I can find in and around the surrounding area without any succcess. There are a few threads on here already, I was just hoping this could be the right place.
I have tried

Esker
Glasnevin
Bluebell
Clontarf
St. Caniclas
Golden bridge
And Mount Jerome all without any luck .

There was a very old graveyard in Chapelizod village - I would imagine it was COI, I'm not even sure if it's still in use or indeed still there - I'll ask a friend and get back to you. Also I had a friend who lived in Chapelizod area but always attended church in Porterstown near Clonsilla so that might be another option for you.

St Laurence's Church of Ireland graveyard Chapelizod. Usually in Ireland you get both religions using the same burial ground. Also as Chapelizod is on edge of Phoenix Park I would look at burial grounds surrounding park - ie Porterstown as I mentioned, Clonsilla, Castleknock.
 Best of Luck!

Chiddicks,
I don't know where you live but if you wanted an idea of Chapelizod and it's surrounding areas you should read the book The House by the Churchyard by Joseph Sheridan Le (La) Fanu. Its set in Chapelizod in the 1700's when the Royal Irish Artillery were stationed there. The village really hasn't changed very much from that time and places are easy recognized in todays time eg Martins Row mentioned in the book is almost the same in todays world. Just a suggestion if your family are from that village to get an overview of the place. Also it's a great and very amusing read.

Thanks sams mam I'll have a look for the book online.
I am from England my mothers family came from Dublin, I visited twice last year all around the area that they lived. It was primarily the Kilmainham Area and Sarah Place but they also lived in and around various areas from 1850 to 1950.

I have also tried to locate a copy of another book Default Inchicore Kilmainham and District by Seosamh O'Broin
if you have any suggestions where I might be able to get a copy of that as well?
Thanks
Paul
