Ontario death records
« on: Tuesday 24 January 17 19:11 GMT (UK) »
Are there any death records available online in York, Scarborough Ontario after 1963. I am trying to find death records for James L Toye ( no further info) and Gladys I Toye nee Whitmore born 1924 in Shoreditch England. They married in 1945 in London and moved to Canada in 1948. I have a feeling that James came from Canada and Gladys was a war bride. Also looking for birth records to see if they had any children.

Canada does not have a BMD Index as does the UK.  Canada has quite strict privacy laws.  As a guide BMD Records are only available for births more than a 100 years ago, marriages 85 years ago and deaths 70 years ago.

Perhaps Run Kitty might find you some obituaries in York  Scarbourough Ontario which would help.

Just found this,

TOYE, James Jim Toye died peacefully in his sleep, in his 90th year, at St. Peter’s Hospital on Maplewood Avenue in Hamilton on Friday, May 4, 2012. Jim was predeceased by his wife, Gladys. Born in Winnipeg, He served overseas in WWII, where he met Gladys. They were wed in the ruins of a London church and Jim was there to meet her when she arrived in Canada as a war bride. Jim was very active as a baseball and hockey coach, and he never lost hope for the Maple Leafs. After retirement from the Becker Milk company, Jim settled in Peterborough, cheered for the Petes and enjoyed the company of his children, grandchildren and many friends on the shores of Lake Chemong.   Together, Jim and Glad made a home where everyone was welcome. Jim’s final years were lived at St. Peter’s Hospital, where he was made comfortable and joyful by the wonderful care team on 3 West.

That's great but don't forget we cannot post the names of living people on RootsChat- so you will need to edit and remove the names of children and grandchildren.
Will send you a pm regarding one of the sons.

I have edited my post. It has been so long since I posted on here I forgot the rules about living people.
