oho,

I think you really need the DC for more info. such as where & when Karen died to narrow your search to further your enquiry?

This should give you an idea of which newspapers would have an article based on the area?

I don't know what info. you have on the husband but from what you say, he died after Karen was murdered.

This gives you an outside window for her death being somewhere in between 1977 & 1998.

To narrow it down further, if you know of any children born to the marriage, you can narrow it down to at least the year of the youngest or only child?

I don't know what would be on an English DC for someone who was divorced but if they weren't divorced/legally separated does it show him as a Widower?

An English death certificate should list marital status- single, widowed, divorced.

Have also done some searching but can't find anything anywhere in Ireland- North or South. Unfortunately the possible dates will not be found in online indexes.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

In the outstanding Irish cases there is at least one by the name of Karen Smith

I would suggest that you make contact on the link gave eariler and ask where the case is at
I will try another avenue tomorrow and get back to you

Thanks aghadowey,

Wasn't sure on the 'legally separated' status but what I was wondering (although I didn't word it well), was the ex-hubby described as 'Widowed' when he died or had he been remarried?
