WDYTYA Series 13: Sir Ian McKellen
« on: Thursday 26 January 17 10:11 GMT (UK) »
Hi All

I didn't see a thread started so apologises if there is one - but just wanted to say I found this episode charming. Some great places visited and really interesting.

And, who knew there were so many theatrical historians around!  ::)

My only complaint was on the close-ups of the various clippings?
The camera wasn't held steady; it was out of focus; and what on earth was the idea of filming through Sir Ian's magnifying glass?!

But the programme itself was very good, I thought.
Sir Ian came across as very genuine.

Not watched it yet, is it usually on on a Wednesday night?  I have recorded it and will watch it tonight.

Thoroughly enjoyed this episode.

A real gentleman with an interesting background. Loved his visit to the Lake District.

Yes, some of the camera shots could have been better.

Believe it will be shown on a Wednesday night from now on.

I throughly enjoyed it, I thought he had very interesting non wealthy ancestry. I found Sir Ian to be very likeable and it was evident that he got a lot out of the process.  This series to me seems one of the strongest so far.

As great a man he seems to us all. He seemed very humble at his ancestors achievements.
One of the better ones I have seen
Pity all of the research is now handed to them on a plate. Would like to see them doing a bit of their own finding about the facts.

I also enjoyed this episode although I felt sorry that Sir Ian had no near relatives left with whom to share his discoveries  :(
