I loved this one.  His delight was so genuine and infectious.
Do so agree Jomot.
It was possibly my favourite of all time. Very often the discoveries are fascinating but the celebrity makes me cringe!!
Sir Ian's demeanour was impeccable throughout.  :D

A very interesting programme. Sir Ian should feel proud of his ancestors. It just goes to show there's still a lot out there that is waiting to be found.

A very positive programme and not at all too melancholy which was suggested in a review I read! It nearly put me off watching.

Lots of theatre and newspaper records. I really enjoyed the whole thing.

His hat was such an unusual colour then I realised it matched his amazing eyes!

healyjfch As you have Sky - I presume you subscribe rather than just having a box - you could download this programme and then watch it.  I often do that with programmes we've missed, or programmes that are being shown at the same time as two we are already recording  ::)

Overall, so far, this series seems far more in the original spirit of the early series of WDYTYA? than the previous few. Really heartening - i do hope the folk who plan these programmes are eavesdropping on our appreciation of recent ones ( even if the D. Dyer one was a real comedy item!)
Threlfall (Southport), Isherwood (lancs & Canada), Newbould + Topliss(Derby), Keating & Cummins (Ireland + lancs), Fisher, Strong& Casson (all Cumberland) & Downie & Bowie, Linlithgow area Scotland . Also interested in Leigh& Burrows,(Lancashire) Griffiths (Shropshire & lancs), Leaver (Lancs/Yorks) & Anderson(Cumberland and very elusive)

I'll have to watch it again as I was very busy on Wednesday but from what I can remember, Ian seemed very genuine in his responses and was a good episode overall; would have been better if he did some research himself. On the magnifying glass; I thought it was okay to be honest!  ;D

I also loved his hat and I would love one!!   I think this was one of my favourite episodes for both Sir Ian and his ancestors
