South Australia: John Carter ROAN, born 1829, Plymouth, Devon

Hello,

John Carter ROAN was a Parkhurst Boy, transported to WA in July 1849 on the Mary.  He re-offended and was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment for perjury on 04/07/1850 at the Perth Quarter Sessions.

According to TROVE a John Carter ROAN was on trial in Adelaide for theft in 1852/1853 but the outcome is not covered by TROVE, although the appropriate entries for him are numerous.   I am trying to establish whether or not this is the same person sentenced in 1850 Perth above given the "uniqueness" of his name, but as the SA reports state his age to be 18 (real age 23??), that is, about 5 years younger, there is doubt......he could have lied, not unknown as 1850 shows::)

I hope someone can help.

For the moment
