« on: Thursday 26 January 17 23:33 GMT (UK) »
Good Evening.
I am trying to find a William Ashby bn ? Chilvers Coton, Nuneaton, Warks.
I understand that he mrd Sarah Hands bn 1770 Chilvers Coton, Warks.
They had 1 son, but the son's last name was Daulman?
Also who were William Ashby's parents?
Kind Regards.

William Ashby and Sarah DORMAN in Chilvers Coton 27 March, 3 April and the 10 April 1803

Have you seen the marriage entry ?

I can't see a baptism of a Sarah HANDS c1770, there are lots of Sarah DORMANS though, but not at that date ( well there was one but she died). The only one that looks likely here is this one

Sarah Dorman
Baptism   4 Nov 1781   Chilvers Coton
Parents: ?? and Sarah.

Father's name has been transcribed as Thomas but the image is clearly beginning with a 'W' and looks like War . Another baptism to the couple Jossiah fathers name is WOR .

It was Wo(a)r Dorman that married Sarah Hands (1788 Chilvers Coton.)
There are a couple of possibles for William's birth, 1 in 1769 to William & Sarah Ashby & 1 in 1779 (which is more likely) to William & Susanna, both in next door Nuneaton.

What was the son's name & when was he born ?
War & Sarah (Hands) Dorman had a son John 1800 in CC.
As an aside I notice there's a Peace Dorman b. 1760 CC.

If you are referring to HENRY Dorman Christened 20 March 1803 Chilvers Cotton, he was the Son of SARAH Dorman, so illeg.

If Sarah did marry William Ashby soon after he is likely the Father of Henry

As claire said SARAH Dorman appears to be Christened 4 Nov 1781 Chilvers Cotton to WM/SARAH
(Familysearch has Wm, but as claire has acess too image we know it is War (Wor))

Whor/Sarah did  have another Sarah Christened 1 April 1771 but she was buried 25 Oct 1772

Good finds everyone  :)

That is an unusual name -Wo(a)r. I've never heard of it before.

Wonder if it should have been War given there was a Peace.

The name War seems to run in for family over a number of generations.
Maybe War & Peace has some reference to the 7 years war raging at the time.

I should think that's quite possible.

Quite like that idea- the parents showed some originality  :)
