This appears to be the son William - https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:J65P-42Q

It looks like the elder William died between 1870-1880, and Pennsylvania didn't require statewide vital registration until 1906.  It can be a bit hit or miss before then.

Nearly all of the 1890 census was destroyed by a fire, but there is a snippet with two of the younger Trevethans on it:  http://files.usgwarchives.net/pa/schuylkill/census/1890/mahanoyt.txt

Daughter Katie Trevethan was born 1874 so that narrows the time frame for the death of William Snr.
Noticed that William Trevethan Jnr burial info (1914) said "Mahanory City, Pa"  The death certificate for Ida Trevethan (1942) gives "Protestant Cemetery, Mahanory City PA" - also known as German Protestant Cemetery (Old)

Headstone Inscription

Wonder if it is worth an e-mail to see if there are other Trevethan burials at this cemetery  ???
