Looks like Reginald was supposed to go to Victoria but obviously ended up in WA, not sure of the connection
http://recordsearch.naa.gov.au/SearchNRetrieve/Interface/ListingReports/ItemsListing.aspx
Podd, Reginald Stanley born 1945 - flight departed 11 May 1970 London to Sydney (final destination will be Victoria) [chest X-Ray Podd, Reginald]

I don't know of any connection to my wife's PODD family, but Reginald and Doris were son and mother, and a little research shows the father was Albert Victor PODD, and I think he may have died in Middlesex in 1975 ?

Reginald Stanley PODD   born       1945 Willesden, Middlesex, England
migrated 1970 London to Victoria / Perth

Doris Emily CAREY          born      1916 Willesden, Middlesex, England
                                    married  1941 Willesden, Middlesex, England
                        to         Albert Victor PODD

Albert Victor PODD         born       1911 Willesden, Middlesex, England
                                    died        1975 Brent, Middlesex, England

The Barque, 'Charlotte Padbury', from London, Captain J. Broome, arrived at Fremantle 2nd October 1888 bound for Champion Bay in Western Australia.
One of the passengers was Horace Podd.
This was the first voyage for the 'Charlotte Padbury' to Western Australia.
See "Report of the Charlotte Padbury" bottom of the page RHS.

Thanks for that - we found this a year or more ago, then lost the link! Glad to have it available again.
I think Champion Bay was Albany??

Can't locate the relevant passenger list with Horace PODD though.

Gerry

We are guessing that this was inserted by his brother Ernest William PODD (b. 1862), advertising to find news of Horace Ernest PODD b. 1864 - who was indeed at Victoria Plains / New Norcia district.

We believe there were two older sisters, and a younger brother Alfred Edwin PODD b. 1869

The passenger list is on a subscription site but it has no date, only 1888, the newspaper article gave the date of arrival.

Just to clarify.

Champion Bay is now known as Geraldton, approx 380Km north of Perth.

The Charlotte Padbury first visit to Fremantle was in 1874.
The reference in the newspaper would refer to the first visit for the Captain Broome, not the ship.

Others seeking the family. (Perhaps you?) The West Australian 1999.

HALLIGAN: Descendants of Hugh and Alicia Hynes (possibly nee Halligan) who
arrived in WA in 1854 are sought. They lived in the Canning/Kelmscott area.
Descendants of Horace and Mary Ann Podd (nee Halligan) who were married at
New Norcia in 1903; and descendants of Phillip and Jane Spence White
(possibly nee Halligan) who were married in 1868 and lived in the Canning
area are all sought for family history. The Whites had five sons and five
daughters. Contact:
