Family history research advice.
« on: Friday 27 January 17 12:09 GMT (UK) »
Could anyone help me please?
I am attempting to research my family tree presently looking into my great grandmother & grandparents :-
Eliza Rudge b. about 1872-1878 Halesowen
Ethel Dallow b. 1901 Birmingham
Albert Walter Dallow b. 1899 Birmingham

Albert& Ethel Dallow had 2 sons :-
Harold Frederick Dallow b. 1921 B'ham
Albert Dallow b. 1925 B'ham

I have been able to follow these ancestors in the electoral books at B'ham Central Library from 1920 through to 1940 showing them living in Norwood Road, Bordesley Green, Birmingham. There is a break during wartime when the registers were not taken recommencing again after the war years. I had hoped to follow the family at the same address but in the registers which commenced again after the war the road was simply listed as “Nil”  ~  I can only assume that the properties may have been bombed.
Obviously, this means that I am now unable to follow the family as I do not know where they moved to not having their new address to follow in the electoral books.
I had hoped that the Norwood Road address might also show up a trace for another family member too ~ Harry Rudge, Born 1918, B'ham, but sadly, he was obviously living elsewhere.
Can anyone help or advise me on how I might be able to trace where they moved to & lived for the remainder of their lives?
Any help or advise would be much appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi Keith

have you got their death certificates which would show their last addresses and then try to work backwards from there.

what addresses are given on Harold & Albert's marriage certificates?

That's wonderful help Carole, thank you so much. As a novice I am unsure of how to go forward with research but am leaning as I go on.
Thanks again for your advice.

Re: Harry Rudge.  As his full birthdate is on his death reg it may help you to find him on the 1939 register

Unfortunately - there are 2 Harry Rudge births in Birmingham - 1913 and 1918 which gives us 2 Harry Rudge marriages 1942 and 1947

Do you know who he married - Hilda M Hadley or Margaret I Berry?
