ISABEL AIRD - Ross and Cromarty
« on: Saturday 28 January 17 00:30 GMT (UK) »
I am seeking info on Isabel Aird.  Her parents were James Aird (1788-1862) and Christian Munro (1806-1869).  They had four children, Hugh 1830, William 1834, Isabel 1836 and Donald 1839.

Isabel is listed in the 1841 census with her parents, and in the 1851 census, she is residing with her cousins, William, Mary Kerr and George Kerr, at 9 Clarence Street, Edinburgh.

Then I lose track of Isabel.  I have tried ScotlandsPeople and FamilySearch, to no avail.

I would appreciate any direction finding anything on Isabel, whether she died, whether she married etc.  I have tried every combination I can think of, but nothing is working.

Thanks for any help!

Robang,  there's a wee ruined church behind Alness called Nonikiln, jam-packed with Airds.

Hi Skoosh:  I checked all the interrments at that cemetery and while the dates for Donald, 1835-1890 and William 1832-1900, are close, I'm pretty sure these are not my Airds because dates don't correspond with census records that I have.  Of course there are plenty of Donalds and Williams etc. but with only the  dod, it's a huge project to check all to find their dob.  I checked all sorts of variations on FindaGrave, (not only at Nonikiln but throughout Scotland, and nothing definite comes through, at least on that website.  I'll keep plugging.  Maybe I overlooked something so I'll go back over the names later this morning.  Thanks for your reply.

Re: ISABEL JOHNSTON AIRD - Additional daughter?
« Reply #3 on: Sunday 29 January 17 13:29 GMT (UK) »
This is an addition to my original post.  I have also found Isabella Johnston Aird, possible parents James Aird and his wife, Christian Munro.  This daughter's date of birth is listed as 1832, four years previous to my original message re Isabel Aird born 1836.   Does anyone have any clues for Isabella Johnston Aird, did she die as a very young child and the next daughter was named for her, did she grow up and get married etc. etc.  I;m beginning to think that she did not make it out of infancy, but can find no proof.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I would say Isabella Johnston Aird has died and the Isabell Aird born 1836 has been named after her
Only the Isabell born 1836 is recorded in the census returns 1841 ..No deaths on old parish records you might need to check cemetery records

Unfortunately, been there - done that.  I will, however, go back and make sure that I didn't overlook something, and definitely be sure before I pay out more $$$.   Thanks for responding.  Robang

Thanks, Rosie.  I will do that.  I've never had success in the past contacting the owners of private trees, but will certainly give this one a try.
