Possible fatal accident
« on: Saturday 28 January 17 11:05 GMT (UK) »
Hi All

I am looking for any newspaper reports for a possible fatal accident involving a "Hugh Tyndall"

He died on 15th Feb 1900 at the cottage hospital Moodie street Dunfermline, cause of death fracture of the leg and internal injuries, on his registration from Scotlandspeople there is an RCE but this is not linked at the moment.
His job on death cert is Quarryman

Yours Aye

There are a few newspaper reports of him succumbing to injuries received at Rosebank Quarry the previous day. It seems he had been 'tirring', when a mass of material unexpectedly loosened and fell on him, burying him underneath it.

As a reference for 'tirring' :

"... and also the quarry rubbish, and shall bank up such tirring and rubbish at the said end of the quarry as it accumulates to the level of the adjoining ..."

You can read one mention of his death in the Glasgow Herald:

if you navigate to page 8, bottom of column 4.
