Trueman Joseph Cook of East Leake
« on: Sunday 29 January 17 15:35 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

I am unable to find this chap on the 1871 and 1881 censuses.

He is born in East Leake 1853 mmn Stubbs.
Parents William Cook and Mary Stubbs.

Mary dies a few years after Trueman's birth and in the 1861 he is transcribed as Freeman and is with his cousin Annie at their grandparents Joseph and Sarah Stubbs's farm in Normanton-on-Soar.

Then I am unable to trace in the 1871 and 1881 censuses.

In 1887 he marries Mary Jane Friend nee Skynner. By then he is a prosperous man and I can trace him through to his death.

What I would like to find is the missing years 1861 to 1887- for two reasons, one to see how he built up his career and the other to see if there are any clues as to who his father was.

Thankyou
Brie

Thank you - I wonder why I couldn't find it on Ancestry, I will try and find it by searching some of the other names on the schedule.

Ah, he is transcribed as Emman! Oddly, as a student I lived literally around the corner from where they are.
