Hi
Hope someone is able to help me..
Trying to find enough details to order a birth certificate for my relative
Margaret Ann Dunn born 1887 in Middlesbrough, she married Bruce Albert Teate and lived in Eston
She was evidently brought up in a big house where her mother worked as a housekeeper. It is unclear whether her mother was ever married. 1911 census they live in Jubilee road Eston.

Did her marriage certificate name her father  :-\

May be order first?

It is normally a good idea to follow backwards with certificates.  If  Margaret was illegitimate it may not name a father or could be a fictitious one. Sometimes the witnesses are a help, maybe her mother was one  :-\  Sometimes they are no help at all, one of family histories gambles I am afraid.

Before you do consider it have you found her in census prior to her marriage.

I can't see a suitable birth registration for her on the GRO index

Possible sighting of Margaret Ann Dunn that you are researching -

James King   22 b. Eston, Yorkshire
Ann E King   23 b. Guisborough, Yorkshire
Margaret Ann Dunn   adpt dau 4 b. Middlesbrough

RG12 Piece 4000 Folio 42 Page 33, 20 Harker Street, Skelton

James King married Annie Elizabeth Richardson 3 Dec 1887, Guisborough (shame that Annie's surname is not Dunn  ??? )

As Rosie has already said the purchase of Margaret's marriage cert would be the best course of action.

Well she is a housekeeper but I doubt that the house was 'big'   ;D
