Gardner Family
« on: Sunday 29 January 17 19:41 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find out information about my 3rd Great Grandmother.  Her name was Jane (or Jean) Gardner, I believe she was born in Stirlingshire in 1807.  She married John Russell and had a number of children including my 2nd great Grandmother Marion Russell. I am not sure when they married but I believe later they moved to Glasgow as on the 1851 census they lived at 6 Love Loan, if this is the correct family

Any information would be much appreciated please

If she died from 1855 onwards - her parents names and mothers maiden name will be on her death cert

Hi Nessie,

Looks like the same family from 6 Love Loan in 1851 at Little Hamilton Street, Glasgow in  1841.

John Russell              age 40         Coach Builder      born outside census county
Jane Russell              age 35                                                 ditto
William Russel           age 10                                                 ditto
Agnes Russel             age 8                                                   ditto
Jane Russel               age 6                                                   ditto
Catherine Russel        age 4                                         Lanarkshire
Robert Russel             age 2                                                 ditto
John Russel                age 1mth                                           ditto
Dougd McDonald         age 50          Labourer           born outside census county
Richard Russel            age 20  Iron Moulder Journeyman         ditto
David Gardner           age 20      Cooper Journeyman               ditto

I have copied above as per Freencen transcription using the spellings noted.
I see there is a David Gardner in the household , who could be a relative of Jane's.

Looby :)

She was born in either 1849 or 1850 in Glasgow and was the last of Jane's children

Which is the last census Jane appears on - you can look for a death after that date

Just checked and Jane was still alive in 1861 so any death will be found in the Statutory Indexes on SP

https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/search-our-records

Jane is 54 so her age is consistent with an 1807 birthyear

They were living in the Anderston Registration District at that time

I am trying to find info on Peter Gardiner or Gardner  born in Alloa around 1775. He married Kathaine Condie.

Best to start a new thread on the Clackmannanshire forum unless you have some definite reason to think he is related to the Gardners in this thread.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
