William Forsyth

As per a previous post, I am also looking for details of William Forsyth, son of Ezekiel b.1794.

I have William as born 1823 near Stirling. I know he was married and had approx. 7 children all born in Scotland (Alexander, Helen, Margaret, Jane, Janet?, William and George).

What I don't have are details of the marriage. I know his wife was probably called Helen, but I don't have a maiden name.

Any help would be great

Hi Paul were the children born Bothwell Lanark ? as there is some baptisms with some the names you mentioned with father William Forsyth mother Ellen Whyte ..
Do you have them in any census forms ?

I don't have any other details at the moment - the original research was done in 2008, and to help another family member living in Australia I am doing some further digging.

I did a lot of research around that time and was getting info from Scotlands People, researchers in Ireland and USA. From the info I still have, I cant remember where this part came from - possibly from the census relating to Ezekiel Forsyth.

I did get a number of replies for a William Forsyth from RootsChat, but looking through my emails, I was researching 3 separate Williams!!!

If it is the same family this William was born Ireland not Stirling so you will need to check your Records to see ...

What is throwing me in the tree information I saved was that William was born 23/04/1823 in St Ninians, Stirling. However, I am not clear how I got this.

I suppose the way to look at it, from the aspect of what is fact. Tracing backwards, my grandfather was Thomas Forsyth born in Hartlepool 1901. His father was John Forsyth born USA. His father we think was Alexander born 1847 New Monkland, Scotland. He we belive is the son of William - the one I am trying to find.

What is not proven is if Williams father was Ezekiel - and the Ireland link keeps throwing me.

Scotland People have a births for an Alexander Forsyth with William Forsyth and Ellen Whyte as the parents. However, in the same year there is also an Alexander Forsyth with William Forsyth and Barbara Glenesk as the parents. From what I can see and remember, I never got the bottom of which one the Williams was the correct parent.

The only thing I can guarantee is the link between Thomas and Alexander
