Inquest and death reports, 1900
« on: Tuesday 31 January 17 14:26 GMT (UK) »
I am new to this section of the forum as not many of my clan ventured here.

I would welcome advice on finding more about a death in 1900:
I have a death certificate for Thomas Morris who took his own life and died on 27 Jan 1900 at Pryme Street, Sculcoates.  He was a colliery engineer aged 40 who had brought up a family in Lancashire and had no other link with Yorkshire that I have found.  The informant was a coroner  for Hull whose inquest was held on 29 Jan 1900.  I have some evidence that the family was dispersed to some degree by the date of his death.

Searching the newspapers available through Findmypast has brought no result.  I had hoped to find some sort of report and now wonder if anyone with local knowledge could suggest any sources.

Survival of Inquest files varies but the place to ask is:

I've dealt with them in the past, but not for an Inquest, and found them to be very helpful; they might know which, if any, local newspapers would carry reports of Inquests.

Thank you both, very helpful. I am surprised that my search of the newspapers failed to find that report, which ties in with the death certificate.
