Do you know where it was taken?

Do you know anything about the person which could help others for research?

Can you post an enlarged pic of the badge please?

The Police Museum should be able to give you any general background regarding the Govan Burgh Police and if you are really lucky and your ancestor was involved in anything major they may have further details. The cap and braid indicates a senior rank.

When Strathclyde was formed in 1974/75 all surviving historical personnel records were handed over to the City Archives at the Mitchell Library. Although some forces records were pretty sparse it may be worth a look.

Thanks again. Was planning a visit to the Mitchell later this month anyway so will add that to the list.
