Death Notices
« on: Tuesday 31 January 17 19:51 GMT (UK) »
Hi, just wondering if everyone would of had a death notice as well as a death certificate?

I'm looking for John Henry Watson who died in 1921 in Cape Town. I have his death certificate, but a death notice could potentially have more information.

That's an interesting question Chris.

I have a couple of death notices but assumed that was all the information you got and there wasn't actually a certificate as such.

I don't live in SA though so maybe that's all I could get from overseas?

Look forward to finding out!

Hi
Death Notices which contain details of potential heirs are only produced where an estate needs to be processed - so no there is not always an estate death notice. From 1894 there should be a death Notification which only details the deceased and cause of death - no next of kin details.

Thank you both for your replies. That makes perfect sense to me now! I have two death notices for the family so i still feel quite lucky.
