Annie/Anna North
« on: Wednesday 01 February 17 15:50 GMT (UK) »
Hi. I have been making good use of Irishgeneolgy.ie and have traced my gggrandmother as a Ms Anna North, married to a Joseph o Leary, St Nicholas of Myra, Francis Street on 27th October. 1867. Daughter of Patrick and Catherine North. When looking at the original inscription it had Anna also or alias Caffrey. A quick search of Anna Caffrey brings up an Anna Caffrey previously North marrying a Jacobus ( James) Caffrey on 25 March 1858. in the pro catherdral. I'm hoping for guidance on how to figure out if these are one and the same person. I've been checking ancestry.co.uk and genealogy.ie . It's throwing up children of the two marriages but nothing else. Any tips?

Welcome to RootsChat,
I'm just posting links to the two marriages, it's easier to follow and search when you can look at the records yourself.

I guess the first thing would be to establish when the Caffrey North births stop, if after Civil Registration started that birth, if your very lucky, might be after the father died and this would be on the Civil cert.
Otherwise it may be you will have to wait until the images of all the deaths come online to eastablish when he died.
A marriage for one of his children might also show him as deceased but wouldn't be as useful.

Possible conformation, putting Anna North into the Civil Cert search for 1867 gets no result but Anna Caffrey does.

Not viewable yet though.

James was still alive when Catherine was born
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1864/03607/2330500.pdf
It narrows a date of death at least.

Thanks for the replies. If she had married twice she also named two children Maria. Maria Joseph Caffrey 14.04.1860 and Maria O Leary 13.09.1868. The second family I can follow all the way through to my own but I'm finding it hard to find anything on the Caffreys

James Caffrey must have died 1864-1867 and this is the only possiblity I can see at the moment (keep checking to see when image comes online-

JAMES CAFFREY, age 38, died 3rd quarter 1865 Dublin South, volume 12 page 471
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Sorry I should have checked if there was a Joseph O'Leary to match that Ann Caffrey marriage but I don't think there is.
Have another look later.
