Lint Miller, Balgonie
« on: Thursday 02 February 17 12:14 GMT (UK) »
I have been researching a Grizel Seton. On the parish record of her birth her father is described as "lint miller at Balgonie Mill". Can anyone throw any light on what this occupation involved and whether this was a common trade in Fife. The year was 1785.
Sinclair: Lanarkshire & Antrim; McDougall: Bute; Ramsay: Invernesshire; Thomson & Robertson: Perthshire; Brown: Argyll; Scott: Ayrshire: Duff: Fife.

Hi sot,

Sorry I don't have time to search but seems the Lint Mill was in Balbirnie which is very near Balgonie. Edit, I see there is one listed at Milton (which is basically Balgonie) known as Milton of Balgonie (old name Milltown of Balgonie).

There's a list of all the Mills that were in those areas here;
