I presume you are referring to Ancestry - try your local library, which may have the free Ancestry Library Edition. Or it may have FindMyPast.

mary jane was born 1881 in dover, her parents were joseph and katherine.

katherine born 1858 in allahabad india to father peter pickett (no mother mentioned).

katherine pickett-stevenson died in manchester in 1912 which matches what i know.....

Really struggling with Katherine pickett's mother as her father peter pickett married in 1881 in dover kent to a sarah nash and put himself as a widower!

i'd love to find katherine's mother and see if she was irish, indian or english!!

Have you located Peters army records.  1881 gives place of birth as Ireland
