Daly family, at least father, John Daly, and several children, left Cork in the 1873 or thereabouts, to live in Liverpool and Birkenhead.Would appreciate any advice on continuing research.

What information are you looking for?  How do you know their origins were in carrigtwohill/carrigtohill Cork.  You can now look at Parish Records RC for carrigtwohill on www.registers.nli.ie - I presume you have the family on UK Census after they arrived in Liverpool. It would help if you could post details of names of children (presume born in Cork) as this would help to track down their births/baptisms & possible marriage for their parents.
