William Smith/Mary Sharp - Northants marriage 1841
« on: Friday 03 February 17 09:38 GMT (UK) »
Hello....

Can anyone find me this marriage & the information it has, please

William Smith & Mary Sharp got married March qtr 1841 in Wellingborough RD

In 1841 & 1851 censuses living in Hinwick, Poddington, Beds is William Smith & wife Mary & children William 1839 & Low 1841. William senior born Knotting & Mary born Wilby Northants (which is in the Wellingborough RD - as is Poddington, but the marriage/names do not feature on the Beds FHS Surnames Index CD). Via the new GRO search facility the birth index of Low Smith in June 1841 has his mother as Sharp. I've not found the William Sharp birth.

Thanks in advance
Cheers John

Scant details but marriage 18 Jan 1841 Puddington has the fathers as

Jonathan Sharp for Mary
John Smith for William

Plus the 1841 census has a John Smith 70 in the same household.

Thanks Milliepede...

Yes John Smith is his father (we're assuming) as we've not found any baptisms

Do you have witness names ?  & was it by banns or by licence ?

cheers John

That's all the information there was I'm afraid - just a brief transcription on ancestry in England Select Marriages 1538-1973 - no image or anything.

Noticed there are two John Smith's in the 1841 household.  The other one is 35.

William shouldn't be 40 in 1841 should he?  He is 33 in 1851  :-X

Having just had a close look at William's age in 1851, I think that says 53, not 33?
