I am Zoe Northeast, granddaughter of Maximilian Double.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,
Zoe

Hi,

Second Class Conditional Pardon in 1846.

http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/230142384?searchTerm=

The pardon did not allow him to return to England though.

This was changed to an extended Conditional Pardon in 1847.

Hi Peter,

If you check the free to search online index for NSW State Archives under the Convict Index, you will find Stephen has also been indexed under OXFORD ….  Eg Stephen OXFORD, Lady Feversham.  S Moore JP, W Pritchard, H Fowler, John Duffas recommended him for a conditional Pardon 1845,  Reel 797

So, perhaps other indexes have him as OXFORD too, afterall, when transcribing mid 19thC longhand, there’s very little difference between the ‘r’ and the ‘x’.
