Smith Family - Gloucestershire, England to USA abt 1910
« on: Friday 03 February 17 15:32 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I am researching a relative connection of mine that emigrated from Gloucestershire, England to USA

         Archibald (Frederick) Smith

Father      William Smith
Birth              17 Jan 1878 - Daglingworth, England
Civil              19 Dec 1919
Residence      Dryden, Washington, Chelan County

also his brother

             Walter Smith
Father      William Smith
Birth              14 Oct 1891 - Daglingworth, England

Both brothers were in England on 1901 Census, but appear to be in USA before 1991 England Census

There is a Walter Smith arriving from Liverpool 9 May 1910 - Philadelphia.

Any information on these 2 men and their lives in USA would be greatly appreciated.

Did they fight in WW1?

Thank you in advance

As required, Walter Smith registered for the draft in 1917.  This does not necessarily mean that he actually served in the military, only that he registered.

I noticed that the 1920 census says Walter was naturalized in 1918.  There were expedited naturalizations of WWI soldiers, and there is a Walter Smith on the index - https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XPZL-3JM  The image says the number of the court, but I don't know what the number corresponds to.
