Hi

 I Have 2 William White families in Halifax Nova Scotia

District no 18 and District no 7

would anyone know which of these districts would cover The British Army based there please also is there any indexes for Army children born there .

The regimental registers of births, marriages and deaths 1761-2005 are indexed on FindMyPast.  A search for White in years 1865 plus/minus 5 brings up 16 births, none to soldiers of the 62nd (which I imagine your search is about).

If a birth was not recorded by the regiment ( which it should have been), then perhaps it was registered locally in which case hopefully some one with knowledge of local practice will come along.

If your William was in the British army then neither of those entries are your man. British troops weren't included on the Canadian census.
