James Fogg (Jnr) born in Sheffield England in about 1900
« on: Sunday 05 February 17 13:35 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I'm trying to find details about James Fogg (Jnr) born in Sheffield England in about 1900.
His father was James Fogg (Snr).

James Fogg (Jnr) was my mother's father. He moved to South Africa probably between 1918 and 1925. He married Ada Sharples on 24/04/1926 in Durban, South Africa.

I'd appreciate any help.

Jenni

Hi and welcome to Rootschat

Was he James William Fogg?  There is only one birth in Sheffield between 1899-1903 and that was in 1903

Hi Carole

Thanks for your reply.

My older brother is the one who said he "thinks" it was Sheffield. He was definitely from England (as per family recollection and his marriage certificate to my grandmother) and died in South Africa on 20/4/1949. His gravestone said he was in his 49th year.

The only other detail I have is that his father was James Fogg (Snr).

Hi

There is a possibility on the 1911 census born in Derbyshire 1902.  We are not allowed to post 1911 details so you would need to look at the entry yourself

He is the only entry with a father James although fathers name is a corruption of James on the 1911 entry

Mothers maiden names were shown against birth registrations from the September qtr 1911.  There were no other births to James & Annie after the child born 1906 shown on the 1911 entry

That isn't the right James Fogg as he died in Old Whittington, not South Africa.
