Jessie & Joseph Lenderyon. Truro.
« on: Sunday 05 February 17 18:53 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find any information about Joseph Lenderyon born abt. 1820 in Truro. Cornwall and his daughter Jessie born 1843. Jessie was my wife's Gt. Grandmother and we would live to find out more about her. Our Ancestry tree is Jacobs & Lenderyon 02 17
Saunders, Withers, James, Groves, Young, Lenderyon, Faupel, Jacobs. Pittman.

Hi I have requested a Moderator to move this to the appropriate board as I have located a potential Jessie in the 1861 census.

On Anc**** Jessie is shown as JESSE LANDARYLER aged 18 in St Pancras
Census Ref RG09/122/147/9
Pelly/Pelley/Kingsbury/Challis/Nalder/Rochester/Raydenbow

I think Jessie could be Clara. Caroline Lane witness was her sister.

Hi checking out Clara(Jessie) on the 1851 census and checking the other children suggests from the GRO Index that the Mothers maiden name was Tonkin.

Marriage Joseph Lendaryou to Elizabeth Tonkin Parish Kea 10th July 1830

Her sister Caroline Landeryou married Wiliam Edwin Lane 14th July 1860 Parish Chapel, St Pancras Father Joseph occ Carpenter
In 1851 census Caroline is 10 b Truro along with her other siblings and parents at Castle Place, St Pancras
Census Ref HO107/1498/191/38
On Anc**** the family have been transcribed as LINDERYN

I also could not locate a birth registration for either a Clara or Jessie c 1843 in Cornwall, but as the other children in St Pancras 1851 had mothers maiden name Tonkin , their is this one:-

Charity Landeryon Dec qtr 1843 Truro v9 page 329 mmn Tonkin

To both of you who replied. Many thanks. Just to clarify are we saying that the name "Jessie" was a nick name?

Hi Peter, yes I believe it could have possibly been, but then if the Charity birth is correct why Clara?
The siblings on 1841/51 also marry in the Pancras Chapel or those I can locate, Joseph occ Carpenter.

Hi Peter,  I have reviewed your recently updated tree that prior to my posts on here and messages to you via PM and Ance*** was sadly depleted,  Jessie now appears as Clara (Jessie) can you confirm that you now believe Charity=Clara=Jessie?

Oh and the one death I noticed you do not have is the Peter Landeryou December qtr 1898 Devonport 5b 197 aged 58
The couple also have a daughter Jessie born 1882 Devonport.

Hi

Sorry, there was no slight meant. I picked up your message via outlook and was so intent on telling my wife on what you had said that I forgot.

I wonder why Jessie had so many names?

It is amazing what you find out. We have just come back from a few days in Cornwall and have discovered through another reply that  had and we actually stayed in the village where Jessie's Mother was baptised. Wish we had know that before.

I have tried to reply through the Ancestry message page but for some reason it won't go so have come through outlook.

Anyway, many thanks for your help.

Peter
