The mmn is Bennett on their children's birth registrations - Charles Edward Back in 1897 and Mabel Annie Back in 1898.

Thank you for your help.  Yes, on the GRO BD's records the 2 children's mother is Bennett.  John's first wife Elizabeth Jane died in 1895.

Yes, I do normally obtain certificates to confirm details with ancestors connecting to my direct line etc but Emily is very distant ++++ via marriage. Maybe when my bonds come up!! well one can dream.
