Help needed Cairns/Gilhooly
« on: Tuesday 07 February 17 11:42 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
I am not sure where to post this but any help is gratefully received.
I am looking for a couple Edward Cairns and Honora Gilhooly (often known as Ann). They were both born in Ireland and had a child there called Ellen.
Edward was born 1843/44, Honora in 1848/9 and the child in 1863/4. I only know they are from Ireland but no specifics. They married in Haddington Scotland, but must have gone back to Ireland to have the child. I know it is only a little to go on but heres hoping.

Does the 1862 Scottish marriage certificate not list the names of both sets of parents?

I do not know, as this information was provided by another rootschatter. I wondered myself but I am sure had this information been on there they would have provided it.

Bearing in mind the confusion so far over the surname of Ann (wife of Edward)  There was a marriage Edward Cairns to Honora Gilhooly - Haddinton -

GILHOOLY HONORA - 1862 - 709/ 10 - Haddington

CAIRNS EDWARD - 1862 - 709/ 10 - 10 - Haddington

You'll need to view the certificate on Scotland's People to get full details. Having parents' names may help find family in Ireland.

I would imagine that you have to pay for that and I am researching for someone else so will have to get back to them. Thanks

Scotland's People is pay per view so you need to but a few credits before viewing the certificate.
