I am looking for Edward Cairns, wife Ann ,children Miles, Catherine on the 1881 and 1891 censuses. I amtrying to find the birthplaces of Edward and Ann.They were in Haddington for some of their time in Scotland.

We have the 1871 (reply 24) and 1881 (reply 16) on the other thread - census does not give a specific birthplace in Ireland -
Perhaps the purchase of one of the children's birth certificates might help with the parent names for Edward and Ann.

Don't forget just to cloud the issue -  the birth of Catherine - reply 17 - other thread - gave the parents as Edward  cairns and Ann Delanly

I thought the 1891 might throw up different information and didnt realise the 1881 didnt have specific birthplaces.
I think the mother's surname is an anomoly, we had a relative transcribed as 'Stumbles' when in fact they were called 'Hunter'

I have replied on the other thread. I now have the marriage certificate for Edward and Ann Cairns with both sets of parent details. I was wondering how you and your friend got on with this search? Would love to hear from you!!
