Can anyone help me find Frederick Humm on the 1841 census please ?
I have him on the 51,61,71 & 81. but can't locate on the 41.
He was born aprox.1809 Great Henny and died in 1885.
Any help welcome.

1841 census on anc--ry for Woodham Mortimer starts with the surname Jordon.
Surnames from A-Jo are missing. The same for Woodham Walter.

There are lots of Hums on the parish records for Great Henry, but no baptism for a Frederick. I went from 1750 (so I'd have his ancestors when I found him) to 1821.

Hi All

Thanks for info so far. The London one is interesting but can't believe that a Countryman and Farm Labourer all his life would pitch up in London making hats for a short spell. However there are not many Fredericks to choose from. In the 1851 his sister Emma Smith is living with his Family aged 12 born Woodham Mortimer. Can't explain why his sister is called Smith.

Although found his marriage in woodham Mortimer to Emma hervey. His father was William humm. 22 Dec 1849. She was a widow. Her father was Abraham smith.
She had married Jacob Harvey 25 Dec 1843, also in woodham Mortimer.

According to FreeBMD he married Emma Hervey so probably not. I notice a family of Smith's next door but that may just be by chance.
If you look at that census it states born in Woodham Mortimer but in later ones it says Great Henny.
But you are correct in saying no Fredericks baptised in Henny. Have been to Church there and is a wonderful remote place and churchyard full of Humms. Can't just be chance.
