Richard KESSELL and Joan LIGHT
« on: Thursday 09 February 17 01:53 GMT (UK) »
They were married in Landrake on 30 Nov 1744.  I want to believe they are the parents of Elizabeth Kessell baptised 17 Sep 1755 in Callington.  Elizabeth married John TERTHEWEY on 28 Feb 1777 in St. Ive.

Can anyone give me any more information on Richard and Joan? I know it's a long shot but I thought I would ask.

Thank you.

other baptisms to Richard & Joan/Jane

Sarah bp 15 Oct 1745 St Mellion
Mary bp 8 May 1747 St Stephens by Saltash
Sarah bp 15 oct 1750 St Mellion abode Park
Thomas bp 25 Jan 1753 Callington
Richard bp 22 Sep 1758 Callington

Possible burial for Richard 6 Mar 1807 Botus Fleming aged 91
His son Richard looks to be in this parish in the 1790s as there is a baptism for John Light Kessell son of Richard & Jane in 1792.
Age at death could link to the baptism  of Richard Kestle 22 jan 1717 son of Thomas & Mary in Egloshayle, but it is quite distant from his later life.
Not finding anything likely as yet for Joan/Jane Light, there's one in Duloe to parents Robert & Margaret, but neither name used for their children looks unlikely. The parish of marriage is close to the Devon border.

Wow, terrific.  I think the burial in Botus Fleming makes sense not just because age sounds right but because Elizabeth and John Terthewey are buried at St. Mary's in Botus Fleming (Elizabeth in 1808 and John in 1813).  I looked up Richard and he is also buried at St. Mary's.

Thank you very much for all this new information, I am most appreciative.

I've found another possible baptism for Richard & it's closer.

Richard Kestel bp 1 Mar 1714 in St Cleer son of Humphry & Mary

He had an older brother, Thomas, bp 11 May 1712.

Thank you, this is so much more than I had hoped for.  I have to absorb everything and I shall definitely explore the parish registers links.  Thanks again.
