Death Lookup request...
« on: Thursday 09 February 17 19:01 GMT (UK) »
I'm trying to find out when and where John Henry Boles d.o.b. 8/8/1876 died. His birth was registered in Lisnaskea, Fermanagh.

Can you help?

Thanks in advance. Yours in Hope, Spearmint

Have you found him in 1901 or 1911 census yet?

Who registered it?

What address is on it?

He was in England in 1901 so have you found him still there in 1911? (we aren't allowed to do lookups for 1911 English & Welsh census but that one often seems to give a more exact place of birth)

Have you looked for a death in England yet? and if no, why not?

What about the 1939 register (recently released but we can't do lookups for it either)? If he was living in England in 1939 then you should be able to get his date of birth and then will have a better chance of finding a birth record in Ireland.

And where did the exact date and Lisnaskea details now come from?

Thanks for your advice... you have opened up a new line for me. I didn't know about the 1939 census in the UK. In fact it now seems for research should be centered on Gurteen, Sligo not Fermanagh as I first thought.

Nothing definitive yet but I feel I'm getting closer to finding my missing great grandfather...

I wonder if anyone could confirm the DOB of John Boles living at 28 Wellington Rd, Stockport as 20th Feb 1875?

The 1939 register is not a census and we aren't allowed to ask for lookups from it as I mentioned previously.

Are you just picking random men called John Boles born around that time in Ireland or do you have a reason for now thinking he was born in Sligo?

Do you have his marriage certificate? if so, what's listed for father's name and occupation?

Have you found him in 1911 census? and if so, what is the birthplace listed?

To be honest I'm clutching at straws. All I had to go on is the 1901 census. That said his approximate age and nationality. And family lore which was he abandoned the family and was never seen or mentioned again. I believe there were only five or six JBs born in Ireland in 1875/6 and am slowly trawling though hoping to find something tangible and definitive to find him. You can see now why I'm interested in this guy who got married in Dublin in 1913 and resident in Stockport only five or so miles from the original family...

Not really as you haven't posted a link to Marriage to see what record says.
