William Stuart Foulis
« on: Friday 10 February 17 12:58 GMT (UK) »
In earlier posts I was looking for William Carrick Foulis.  His brother Robert James Foulis named him as executor in his will in 1895, as William Stuart Foulis of 105 Bethnal Green Road, London.  When Robert J Foulis died in 1897 William Foulis was removed at his request as executor.  William was listed as William Steward Foulis on the Electoral Roll as living at 108 Bethnal Green Road in 1897 and 1898.

Next comes his death 8th November 1905, London County Asylum, Banstead, William Stuart Foulis, aged 37 years, and under occupation 'Unknown' below which is written "St Marylebone Workhouse'.

If anyone can help fill the gaps between 1898 and 1905 I would be grateful - William was admitted to Banstead on 12th August 1905, presumably from Marylebone Workhouse but cannot find any records of his admittance.  Have searched the 1901 census records but to no avail.

Thank you for your interest and help

If he was previously in a mental institution at the time of the 1901 census - only his initials would be shown

Where was he born?

Was he married?  Any children?

Thank you for that info Carole, so if he was in a mental institution will not be able to find him.
Cannot access St Marylebone records to find when he was admitted.

No marriage record for him as far as I can find.

Last record was on the electoral roll at 108 Bethnal Green Road in 1898. Would he only be on the electoral roll if he was aged over 30?

William born Edinburgh 1866, think I have him in Brighton in 1891 (where his mother and sister were living) under the name of Foles, occupation barman.

The family then all seemed to move to London, living in various parts.

Thank you for your help

Thank you jon, yes found that, amazing the variation in spellings of the name, have been going cross eyed!

Have been  searching for William for 12 years, so glad to have found him, though in sad circumstances.  His sisters all survived to have families.

Thank you also Carole, another possibility.
