There were over 10,000 US soldiers involved as part of the International Force serving in Russia in 1919.The 88 Div. were part of that so not a yarn.

OK I eventually found the link to the 88 Div. stating they were in Russia but I also found the 351st. Inf. Regt. C.O's memoirs which makes no mention of service in Russia.
I think you would have to go with what their C.O. says.
These things are sent to try us.

Talmage Edward Dawson appears to have been living at 1843 Mintwood Place NW in Washington D.C. in 1942. This is relatively close to the Thai Consulate as mentioned in family accounts about Talmage. Also, in the 1930 Census he is mentioned as a Veteran and the conflict is mentioned as 'WW' or World War. This is a third proof that Talmage is a WWI Veteran along with his WWI Kansas Bounty Claim Record and his name being mentioned in the 88th Division book. Also, Talmage is mentioned as a Linotype Operator. In the 1942 draft registration, his birthplace is mentioned as Topeka, Kansas. Also , in the 1930 Census, Sadie Dawson is mentioned as a Stenographer.
