1891/1901 lookup please

Hi I am looking for Thomas Maughan, wife Mary and children one of whom is Margaret b 1894.
He was born around 1853 and Mary around 1861.
They lived in Annitsford at some point.
Their name is often mistranscribed as Maughn or even Maffen.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Their name is often mistranscribed as Maughn or even Maffen.

That's because 'gh' is often pronounced as 'f' up here. So Maughan would be pronounced Maffen.

Houghall = Hoffal
Straughan = Straffen
Ulgham = Uffam

and so on......lots of fun with phonetic renderings of these sorts of names on the censuses
