William Lofthouse baptism - 1824 - Sowerby
« on: Saturday 11 February 17 16:38 GMT (UK) »
William Lofthouse was born in Sowerby around 1824.  According to his marriage, his father was John (Spencer) Lofthouse.

Does anyone have access to baptism records at all, please?

Many thanks,

Emma ;)

There is no sign of William's baptism in C of E baptisms for that time or place.  I've looked at parish registers available on Ancestry, and the BT's on FindMyPast.  There is limited coverage of non-conformist registers on Ancestry, and I can't see anything there either.

Sorry

My apologies - just noticed that this is NORTH Riding and I was looking at Sowerby in WEST Riding  :-[

Are you positive that his father is John (Spencer) Lofthouse??

I wondered from the way you state his fathers name if maybe it was hard to read??

The only William Lofthouse/Loftus (name seems interchangeable at that time) baptism in Sowerby around this time is:

William Loftus bp.24/5/1825 Sowerby by Thirsk, son of Christopher and Mary.

When and to whom did William marry?   I can only see him on the 1851 census when he appears with no status given and is a tailor.   Can't seem to find him after that.   What became of him?
