That makes sense.

I can't give the details, but the 1911 census has Walter with address as "Travelling".  He is married and has 2 children, but I can't find any trace of the marriage - and his wife has a distinctive forename.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Not sure how you think we can do that.  You say that Walter died in 1915 and was born 1879.  However, a death registration for Walter Ball in 1915 - Tonbridge Registration District - states that he was 32, giving a birth year of 1883.

There is a birth registration in Kent - Tunbridge Registration District - 1879 - mother's maiden name is given as Dykes.  Or Walter Wallace Ball - Maidstone Registration District - 1879 - mother's maiden name is Ramsley.  1883 has one instance of a Ball birth registration - Walter Henry - Lewisham Registration District - mother's maiden name is Cook.

1901 - the Lewisham registered Walter H Ball is in the Army in South Tedworth.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

bumbleb when was Thomas a rag gatherer please

When his two sons were baptised in Ashby de la Zouch - 1821-1823.

Added:  by 1831 Thomas is a Labourer - baptism of Catherine on 16 March 1831.

There are no other baptisms for children of Thomas and Ellen between 1823 and 1831, in Ashby.

I think there is going to be a distinct lack of registrations for all the family.
