Hi Rosie,

Many thanks for your reply. It's abit of a strange one and unusual. My partner is trying to trace information about their mother's family. Basically their mum was adopted in 1943 and on her birth certificate the name came back as Phyllis Nora Harrison of Marston Montgomery, Ashbourne Derbyshire. (Not sure if she was from Ashbourne itself originally) her occupation stated worker of the land - presuming farming or something along those lines during the war. My partner's mother has also found out she was one of a twin but unfortunately the twin died at 3 months and she has no memories of this from the children's Home. I guess the main reason for the research was to try and find out who the family was that she came from etc. Perhaps also to try and put a family tree together even if she hasn't had direct contact with them. APologies that I don't really bring much to the table to help you in your family search  :-\

Thanks again for your time

Rachel.

Thank you for the extra information, hopefully sarah_robbo will come back to their post and be able to help.  We have to be careful what we discuss as we are not allowed to name living people.

Hi
Has your partner had a DNA test done. That might help to make a few connections as the questions are being asked not to far back in time.
My HARRISON family comes from nearby Norbury but in the 20th century moved off in different directions

Hello all,

I haven't come across that name in my research yet I'm afraid! Although I have 'rested' the Harrison Line from MM for q couple of months because I was going round In circles. My line also moved on from Derbyshire in 20th C - to staffs and some in London.

Good luck x
Main areas of research:

Robertson (Staffordshire/West Midlands)
Harrison (Staffordshire/Derbyshire)
Jinks/Jenks (Staffordshire)
Doughty (Staffordshire/Shropshire)
Hunter (Northumberland)
