unknown ancestor from Middlesbrough
« on: Monday 13 February 17 15:16 GMT (UK) »
Hi. I am needing some help on this photos please. I got this from my mothers. Sadly she died over 20 years ago and I never asked who the photo was of. By the time I had got interested in family research I only have my mams sister left who doesnt know who this is. I am reckoning on it being one of my mams Nana. I have one born 1885 and the other born 1870. I am hoping getting a approximate year will help me determine who it is. Can anyone help me? Many thanks in advance. Janet

Hi,

Welcome to RootsChat  :)

The information below from http://humphrysfamilytree.com/Blennerhassett/letitia.html could be of help to you -

Bulmer's Directory, 1890 does not show Wright at 75 Albert Rd.
Kelly's Directory of Yorkshire, 1893 shows Phillip and Wright, photographers, 75 Albert Rd.
Evening Gazette (Middlesbrough), Feb 21, 2009, says Margaret Wright ran photographic studio at 75 Albert Rd under the name "M. Wright" from 1890s to 1920s.

So....if it is one of the ladies you suspect, clearly the 1870 one fits. If you post a 300dpi scan of the pic, I'm sure you will get some good results on here. I've cropped a bit out of your photo.
