Brick wall Marriage of Thomas Thomas to Jemima. Swansea area
« on: Tuesday 14 February 17 20:36 GMT (UK) »
Hello  I have been looking at my tree for brickwalls and this marriage is one of them.
I have found 2 possibilities     Thomas Thomas and Jemima Harris    25 Sept 1821
                                                     Both of Llangyfelach
Thomas Thomas and Jemima Griffith   10 July 1824
                                                      Swamsea St Mary.

Thomas and Jemima are in the 1841 census with Eleanor 15 and Evan 5 living near the River Tawe in Llangyfelach.    Only baptism for Eleanor is in 1823 at Swansea St Mary. Very questionable for spelling and I think it was even for a male.
Eleanor marries John Davies at Llangyfelach Parish Church in August of 1844 Father Thomas Thomas, a butcher.
Thomas and Jemima are living in Morriston in 1851. they have Eleanor's oldest son Thomas Davies staying with them.  Not found in the 1861.  Both born around 1801.
Would love to find the marriage and know her maiden name.  Have looked at griffith and Harris wills.  No joy.    Any baptisms.
thank you for reading.  Open to any suggestions.        LizR

Did they have any children late 1837 or after?  If by chance they did then it's possible to look up the mothers maiden name.

Thomas & Jemima both born Llangyfelach have children

Rees 18
David 13
John 10

in 1851.

John born c1841 Llangyfelach so it's possible to look his birth up.  There are a lot of John Thomas births but if you know the right registration district?  Might be possible to see which Jemima belonged to him.

I dont think this couple is mine.  I have found in the 1851 Thomas and Jemsuirna (sp) living at 187 Morriston with Eleanors son Thomas Davies age 7.  Thomas Davies is not with his parents at Merthyr in 1851.Evan is gone.  No known children after Evan b approx 1836.  No relationships in the 1841 census so this is an assumption.
Occupation of Morriston Thomas is butcher.   I have an admin where Thomas Thomas signed a bond with his son in law.  He is listed as a butcher.
If I can identify the other maiden name then mine is left.   Unless there are more than two Thomas and Jemima couples.         What now?   LizR

So Mine would be the Harris marriage.  Is there any way to get banns or witnesses?

Hello  Would the death cert have an address for Jemima?   age, cause of death and informant, right?  I have never ordered a death cert because of too common names and little information provided.  LizR
