The Roberts sheep farmers of Gwnnws, Caron upper, pontrhydfendigaid
« on: Tuesday 14 February 17 21:23 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,
I am looking for help learning about my paternal ancestors. I am limited by my lack of Welsh and of geography and the fact they all have the same names. I want to find out about the roberts family 'the respected clan of robertses, who for generations have resided as sheep farmers in the hills of Caron upper and the borders of Radnor and brecknock' according to a newspaper obit from late 1800s.

I know from a few old newspaper articles that a few of their family weddings took place at the Calvinistic Methodist chapel at pontrhydfendigaid and 'the parish church' strata Florida. I know the family lived at Frongoch farm. The roberts married the Bonnors and Evans. There are several other addresses, I think names of neighbouring farms, on the census but I can't read them.

Morgan roberts, born 1815 was listed in the census as being a sheep farmer of 1788 acres. I think his father was David Roberts and so was his father.

Can anyone point me in the direction of somewhere I can find information in the family? It would be really nice to add some character to the facts.

Thanks in advance
