Information about Joseph Podolak and Doris Lungul of Waterford, Ontario
« on: Wednesday 15 February 17 19:24 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I'm looking for information about Joseph Podolak and Doris Lungul of Waterford and Simcoe, Ontario.

Joseph was the brother of my great-grandfather Peter Podolak. My mother and her siblings remember driving to Waterford to visit Joe and Doris on their farm.

Joe was born around 1883 in Galicia, Austria, probably in Kwaszenina or Wojtkowa (both today in Poland, just near the border with Ukraine). He died in 1981.

They were Ukrainians.

Any information at all would be appreciated.

He was a tobacco farmer.  Walter or Tolly were the last on the farm, I don't think any of the family are still in the area but if the girls married locally I wouldn't know.  However, Sacred Heart in Waterford would probably know or the Ukrainian Hall just outside Waterford.  Did you Google Podolak Waterford?

Don

Hi Don,

You may want to contact the Norfolk genealogy group in Simcoe as well. They have given me a lot of help with my ancestors in that area. Hope that helps,

Yes Sandra Tolly died in 1975 and Walter in 1998.  We lived a couple of miles from their farm for a few years before moving into Simcoe and finally east to the wilds of Bucksnort.  I know they had at least one sister who died not long after Walter but I can't recall her name.  She is also in Greenwood.

Don

Edit:
Found her (and so did idmk)...an online obit Pauline Smith she died in 2000.  I would think from this obit it would be easy to find her children and their first cousins.
