John Timms
« on: Thursday 16 February 17 09:10 GMT (UK) »
Hello

I am hoping someone can help me with my search for my great great grandfather John Timms the 1st census I have for him is 1881 which gives him an age of 46 (1835) and he was a gland packer. London Middlesex living in Salford with his wife Charlotte nee Fuller who is also 46 born in Hereford and their children James, William, Henry, John and daughter in law Isabella nee Atkinson (she's James wife), grandson George and a Neice recorded as Edith Friller but she was Fuller.  RG11 3975/67 page 26

On the 1891 census he's 55 from Kensington London working for the railway as a gland packer with Charlotte his wife whose now 53, son Henry and his wife Anne and 2 nieces Harriet and Annie Fuller. still in Salford RG12 3223/373   page 62

By the 1901 census John as died and his wife is in lodgings aged 65 working as a charwoman.

John had married Charlotte Fuller in Hereford June quarter 1857.

The couple had 4 sons & James was b in the 2Q of 1858, Wm in the 1Q of 1860, Henry in 2Q of 1862 & John in the 4 Q of 1864, all in Hereford.

Although I have census for Charlotte Fuller 1841,1851 and 1861 the latter when she is visiting her family as Charlotte Timms with her two children James and William Timms, I have been unable to find her husband John Timms census for 1861 or 1851 or 1841.

Can't find the census 1871 for any of the this Timms family but think they would have been in Salford but there again they worked on the railway and when the children were born they lived in Hereford.

My tree on the Timm's will have to end here unless someone can shed some light on this family.

Hope someone can help

Eileen

Is this them in 1871 ?

Using Ancestry and transcribed as Ferner

John Ferner 35 b Kensington railway engine driver
Charlotte 33 Hereford
James 13 Hereford
William 11 Hereford
Henry 8
John 6
9 John Street, Worcester St Paul

I think the name reads as Turner.

That looks good Christine.

Eileen,
Do you have the marriage details - his father's name and occupation?

Heywood

Thank you Christine and Heywood

How do they get Ferner from Timms?  It sure looks like my family and his son James my great Grandfather was also a train driver.  They also had an affiliation to Worcester my grandma was born there.

I haven't got the details of his marriage so haven't got his father's name or occupation

Free BMD
June quarter 1857 Hereford
John Timms vol 6a page 811

Charlotte Fuller is recorded as page 871 but also 811 - probably difficult to transcribe.

Good luck Eileen.

It is a difficult name to search because of the possibility of transcription error.
There is a chap in 1851, a Pot Boy in London born Buckinghamshire but not enough evidence there.
