Think you may be mistaken Lying for Limerick.
Some of the children were born in the Lying in Hospital Britain St.

Thanks for the Glasnevin ref. Definitely looks like their Bertha.
Limerick is written in the church record just after John's parents' names (sorry not near the date).  Although I guess he could as a solicitor, have practised in both limerick and Dublin as many of them seemed to?
Magrath, Dublin & Lucan & Cavan
Carruthers/Crothers, Dublin
Crowe, Dublin
McClean, Dublin, Lucan, Armagh & Newry
Sharp, Wilburton & Cambridge,
Laffon - Castres en Tarn, Bordeaux, Amsterdam, Dublin

on Gerald Henry's birth he is listed as John Fennell McGrath

coincidentally there seems to be a solicitor by that name in Denzille St Nenagh 1862

I see the Limerick now, it's on the marriage record, there is a name under it Peter something.
Need to have a better look at it on the NLI site

Oh, that makes sense.
So John might be in one of the Limerick directories.
Not sure I have a link to them on this computer, I'll have a look.

So to sum up, we think Bertha died, one child is still male unknown and we don't yet know what became of Gerald Henry or if he or his brother ever went to the USA.
