Emily Gertrude Wyncoll
« on: Thursday 16 February 17 23:36 GMT (UK) »
Trying to find out if Emily Gertrude Wyncoll is a part of my Wyncoll family tree.  I have found her name come up as the wife of Thomas Wyncoll.

Thomas Edward Wyncoll is a member of my family tree, born 1862 in Myland, Essex, being the son of Thomas Wyncoll and Sarah Scrutton.  Thomas Edward Wyncoll was married to Eva Page and as far as I know, without issue.

Emily possibly marries a Thomas Wyncoll also of the Essex area - just ensuring that I am not confusing the two Thomas Wyncolls.

Can anyone shed any light please?

You haven't really given enough information to help

Where?   Have you seen a census entry for them?  If so - which one and where and when was she born?

What action have you already taken to determine her maiden name as she clearly wasn't born as Wyncoll?    Have you looked on freebmd for a marriage

If they had children - look up any of the children's births on freebmd then check GRO online for mothers maiden name

I have found her on the 1901 England Census as the spouse of Thomas Wyncoll with a number of children.

In this census Thomas is aged 74, Emily is aged 40 and the eldest child Mabel is aged 13 with the youngest child Claude aged 3.

I was not aware of her maiden name, hence my posting this under the name of Wyncoll - but could it be that she was Thomas' first wife Sarah Scrutton's sister?

It was actually illegal for a man to marry his dead wife's sister at the time, though it seems to have happened reasonably frequently nevertheless.

They may have been sisters or otherwise related - more digging required to find out.
