Apologies for the long delay in responding to this thread (more than 2 years), but I have finally followed up on the amazing discoveries of Ambly and am feeling confident that my Lizzie Watkins started life as Elizabeth Whitcombe. At the time, I could not get my head around what was being put forward but after prompting from another thread where I was chasing a red herring, I have worked through your material and now understand what you had found two years ago. I would never have made the associations that you did, and realise that I still have a huge amount to learn with Genealogy. Thank you so much for your time and interest in assisting my research.

Interestingly I have just found Lizzie's father James Whitcombe in the 1841 Census and I was delighted to find both Anne and Sarah Watkins living at the same address, along with their parents and siblings. The hunt continues .
